Green Flash

After many years of trying I finally captured the rare Green Flash at the Oregon Coast on camera.

I have seen the Green Flash many times (about 8-10), but whenever I am ready and have my camera setup...nothing.

....until today.

Cool! I have seen 5 in my life. Not easy, I am really surprised that you caught it.

Cool, didn't know it was a thing.
What are the conditions for this to happen?

From a NASA website:

"...a green flash is now understood to occur when the Earth's atmosphere acts like both a prism and a lens. Different atmospheric layers create altitude-variable refraction that takes light from the top of the Sun and disperses its colors, creates two images, and magnifies it in just the right way to make a thin sliver appear green just before it disappears."

Wikipedia also has a entry:

Its great to isee actual proof of it. when I tell people about it they think im crazy. apparently you can watch it for hours in the right conditions

Only at the poles. At the equator the Sun sets faster and it's gone in the blink of an eye.
