Pastel Dusk

These are probably the most colorful clay hoodoos I have photographed so far. Located in eastern Colorado Paint Mine is a small but impressive location. The area of interest lies in a depression, which provides some challenges for late afternoon or early morning photography. I decided to return after sunset when the brightness of the sky would be less of an issue and the lack of contrast would make the colors of the clay stand out.
